2020 Themes and Activities

Make your camping experience even more fun, by participating in our weekend events.  Each weekend we will have games or crafts based around a theme. A detailed schedule of each weekend is available at the camp store.  You can also get more details about the weekends on our Facebook page.

All activities subject to change due to COVID-19, weather conditions and participation. Activites with ($) have a fee all other activities are free.


June 12-14:   Wet, Wild and Messy 

We will have one family at a time participate in a water challenge, and play the giant candy trail game.  We will have an afternoon craft kit avaiable to pick up and do at your site and Saturday night we will play Candy bar KAMPO Via Facebook.

June 19-21:   Celebrate Dad’s Day

We are going to try a mini Pinewood Derby, purchase the car kit at the office, build your car on Saturday afternoon, bring a widdling tool with you, and race it on Saturday night.  We will race 2 car at a time, please bring a face covering to race.  Prize awarded for winning car.  We will have a craft kit that is a gift for dad available on Satruday Morning.  Saturday night we will play Who Knows Dad Best, we will come site to site, asking dad and family the same questions and the family that has the most answers right will win Dad a shirt.  


June 26-28: We are going buggy 

We will have a “bug” scavenger hunt, the make at your site craft kit will be a firefly, bring scissors, glue and tape to make the craft.  We will play a giant bug game on Saturday night.


July 2-5:  Red, White & Blue, We Love You

Bring your bikes to decorate for our bike/fashion show. Saturday is wet relays.   Make a Patriotic t-shirt; bring a shirt (or buy one at the camp store for only $7.50).  We will supply the paint.  More fun activities will be announced.  Candy bar KAMPO    (3 night min. & 1 night non refundable deposit due at time of  reservation)

July 10-12:  Egg-Citing things are Happening

We will supply the materials and you will have  a certain amount of time to build a safe drop box for an egg.  We will then drop the eggs off the top of the playground one family at a time and see which ones survive.  We will have an egg scavenger hunt and build a catipalt to see who’s can send a plastic egg the farthest.

July 17-19:   Sweet Treat

Join us for a weekend of tasty fun.  We will play a giant game of Candy Trail, Candybar KAMPO, craft you own small version of the candy trail game.

July 24-26: Christmas in July

Merry Christmas! Come join us as Santa stops by with a candy cane for the kids. Decorate your site.  Prizes to be awarded for best decorated.  Join us Saturday for some holiday challenges,  Saturday we have a Christmas craft kit available for both adults and kids to take to your site to do.


July 31 – August 2:   The Nature of Camping

We will create kindness rocks for our garden,  by giving each family a rock to paint. we will have a nature scavenger hunt.   We will do a  fun hike on the nature trail with Tywla.

August 7-9 :   

We will have a Treasure Hunt game, and tie dye in the evening, bring a shirt or buy one at the camp store, we will supply the paint.  We will also have a take and make craft kit for kids.

August 14-16:    Wet N Wild Weekend II

We are cooling you off again with a wet weekend!  We will do water relays, have a wet scavenger hunt  and Unfortunatley the wagon will just be campground staff getting you wet, however you are welcome to try and get us wet as well.  Saturday evening we will have a take & make kids craft and campfire treat.


August 21-23:  Spooks and Ghouls

Treat for Trick (Covid changes everything) and site decorating with prizes awarded.  If the weather permits we will have a haunted walk.  We will have a kids take an make craft.  Halloween KAMO.

August 28 – 30:    Kids Carnival

Fun for kids of all ages with carnival activities!  we will have our homemade kids carnival games and Candy KAMPO for all ages.   We will do shirt painting, bring a shirt or buy one at the campstore for $7.50.  We will have a kids take and make craft.


Sept. 4 – 7:   Labor Day – Finding Captain Kandy’s Treasure

Help us find Captain Kandy’s lost treasure, sift the pond for “Gold”.

Sept. 11-13:   Fall Fun

Football, Scarecrows and everything fall is what this weekend is about.

Sept. 18—20:  Grape Stomp Weekend at Carlos Creek Winery

This event takes place at the winery/brewery not at the campground.  The winery is located just 15 miles from the park.  Lots of great vendors and wine and beer tasting ($)

Saturday evening we will have adult Kampo.

For those looking for a little outdoor adventure, there’s exceptional hiking trails throughout nearby Lake Carlos State Park as well as scenic, family-friendly biking on the Central Lakes Trail or Lake Wobegon Trail.


Whether you’re a beginner playing for fun, or a skilled golfer with a true passion for the game, there are many golfing options to choose from around the Oak Park Kampground area.

Our area is growing in popularity when it comes to craft spirits, visit Carlos Creek WineryPanther Distillery , or Burr Vineyards and have a taste for yourself.


The Alexandria Lakes Area has hundreds of lakes to choose from when it comes to planning a family fishing outing. For those with a boat you have free reign to explore any lake in the area – Lake Mina, Lake Brophy, Lake Darling, Elk Lake, Lake Ida, Lake Carlos, Lake Le Homme Dieu, Lake Winona, Lake Minnewaska, Lake Mary, Lobster Lake, and so many more. Fortunately, it’s not necessary to own a boat to enjoy area fishing. Many of the lakes close to our campground have conveniently located public fishing piers just waiting for you to make some memories… Lake Agnes, Lake Henry, Lake Geneva, Maple Lake, or Victoria Lake. Fishing, hiking and golfing may be nice for the adults and older teenagers but what about the little guys and gals? Not to worry, our area has attractions geared towards littler children as well…
